We are pleased to announce that the 2026 Canadian University Chess Championship will have a Travel Grant to assist schools in their preparation for CUCC this coming January. The application is available here.
The Hart House Chess Club has set aside funds available to support underfunded teams and/or teams with high travel expenses to attend the 2026 Canadian University Chess Championship (CUCC). Funding is need-based and awarded amounts will depend on the number of applications received.
Each school may submit one application which should detail expenses for sending one team to the event.
Funding decisions will consider the level of institutional support available to the team, as well as anticipated travel and related costs for participating in the event.
Application evaluations will begin November 21st, 2025 and decisions will be issued on a rolling basis, with the initial batch of decisions made by December 1st.
Schools that submit their application by December 1st will receive a final decision by December 10th. No applications will be considered after December 1st.
The grant aims to support teams who have demonstrated need. We hope that this allows for teams which traditionally do not participate to consider sending teams to CUCC 2026.
The organizing committee shall review submissions and make final decisions for the funding.
For any assistance or questions, please feel free to contact the organizers at info@cucc2026.ca.
