2026 CUCC Blitz and Social Night Details

We are pleased to host a Saturday night social and blitz side-event during the 2026 CUCC Championship from 8 pm - 10 pm in the Great Hall, Hart House.
Social Night
Each player at CUCC 2026 is eligible to receive one drink ticket to the limited open-bar. Additional drinks can be purchased. Bring ID, alcoholic drinks available for those 19+, non-alcoholic drinks otherwise. Light food will be served (both vegan and non-vegan options). Tables will be set up. Casual play permitted between 8 pm - 11 pm.
Blitz
The details of the 2026 Canadian University Chess Champion Blitz are as follows:
Format: single section, 6-round Swiss System
Time-Control: 3 + 2 (3 mins plus 2 seconds increment from move 1)
When: Saturday, Jan. 17 8:30 pm - 10 pm
Where: Great Hall, Hart House, 7 Hart House CirToronto, ON M5S 3H3
Ratings: CFC Active ratings will be used for pairings
Capacity: 64 players
Rules: Standard FIDE Blitz Rules. Unrated.
Arbiters: FIDE Arbiter Victor Zheng, Cindy Qiao
Eligibility: CUCC participants
Registration: Available onsite from 12 noon Sat. Jan 17
Prizes: Medal for Champion, Top U1800
Note: We will be concurrently hosting a Social Night starting at 8 pm with drinks and light food (therefore, may be slightly loud).
